1968 Oldsmobile 442

This is a numbers matching 442 with motor, transmission and rearend all original to the car. Documentation included is the original build sheet, protect-o-plate, owners manual and various other dealer literature when the car was sold new.
There are only 59,705 original miles on the car and this is documented through the Virginia State inspections which were kept since the 442 was purchased from Swanson Motors in Danville, Virginia.
The design team at Oldsmobile, designed a muscle car with distinctive styling and plenty of power that would set it apart from other offerings in the market place. So, in 1968 the famous 442 became its own model not just an option package and they planted the powerful Rocket 400 ci motor with 325 hp in its engine bay and mated that with the bullet proof turbo 400 transmission. Soon the definition of 442 stood for 400 ci, 4 barrel and dual exhaust.
This is a truly amazing 50 year old car. It has received one repaint with the original color of Saffron Yellow over the factory body panels and shows extremely well. The upholstery is original to the car and attests to the fact that this 442 has always had a pampered life. The original AM radio has been upgraded to an AM/FM radio (the original has been saved and goes with the car). The black interior with the Stratos Bucket seats and sport console really make a sharp color combination with the Saffron Yellow exterior.
The engine compartment has been detailed very well and is neat and tidy. You can't miss the original Rocket 400 sitting here with the correct Oldsmobile bronze color for 1968.
The underside of the 442 is neat and tidy as well sporting various new components; brakes, shocks, gas tank and exhaust with Flo Master mufflers.
You know it is rare to find a 50 year old car that everything works! You know, the little things that get over looked like a glove box light or turn signal, etc. Everything on this gorgeous 442 works as Oldsmobile intended when it was sold new.
Overall, the car shows very well and is in excellent condition. It is a pleasure to drive as well. The power steering and power brakes make it effortless.
This Olds 442 is one of the great muscle cars and with only 4,282 Sport Coupes built in 1968, it will always remain a desirable and highly sought after collectable. If you have been looking for that one car that checks all the boxes, this is the one.
